About Bucketfeet

Co-founders Raaja Nemani and Aaron Firestein met by chance while volunteering in Argentina. Aaron was an artist living in Buenos Aires and Raaja was taking a year to backpack around the world. Before Raaja left Argentina, Aaron gave him a pair of hand-designed canvas sneakers inspired by the city blocks of Buenos Aires. Throughout the remainder of Raaja's journey, this simple pair of shoes sparked hundreds of conversations across six continents with people of all races, religions, genders, and cultures.

Two years later -- and convinced by the power of art to bring people together and connect -- Nemani and Firestein joined forces to launch Bucketfeet in 2011.

Today, Bucketfeet is a footwear company that collaborates with a global community of artists to design limited-edition shoes, spark conversations, and create a brighter world.

Artist Network

Bucketfeet empowers artists to share their stories and perspectives using the universal language of art and a shoe as their canvas. Bucketfeet’s Artist Network is comprised of over 40,000 artists from more than 120 countries. They range from graphic designers, fine artists, street artists, graffiti artists, photographers, students and everything in between.

When you buy a pair of Bucketfeet shoes, you directly support our artists. Artists receive an upfront payment when their design is selected and receive a royalty for every pair of shoes sold. Since launch, we've given over $500,000 back to our artist community.

How it Works

Every shoe is a collaboration — an artist designs every pair of shoes we produce, and every pair of shoes tells a different story.

Anyone can register to be a Bucketfeet artist and submit artwork via our online platform. An in-house team evaluates each submission and selects the strongest designs, which are then prepped for release.

Some designs are produced immediately for inclusion in small seasonal collections. The majority of our designs are put forth for voting. The styles that receive the most community interest are manufactured and made available for sale on our website and in our retail studios. We launch new products monthly and make every style in limited quantities.
